This is the ultimate bread when you’re looking for a chocolately treat without tons and tons of sugar or processed ingredients. This bread is rich, delicious, decadent, and an all around amazing loaf to have around the house or make for a loved one who might be in need of a really yummy treat! For a lower sugar option, feel free to use unsweetened carob chips or unsweetened chocolate chips as opposed to the more traditional sweetened ones! Also note, this bread tastes great on its own, but is also delicious when drizzled with a touch of PB, almond butter, or a spread of Miyokos vegan butter (or another one of your favourite types of butter)!

Ingredients
DRY:
– 1 and 1/2 cups whole rolled oats
– 1/2 cup raw cacao powder
– 1/2 cup unbleached white flour (or could try subbing for another type such as additional oats, gf baking flour, or spelt)
– 2 tsp baking powder
– 1 tsp baking soda
– 1/2 tsp sea salt
WET:
– 3 to 4 very ripe bananas (use 3 if they’re on the larger side and 4 if they’re on the smaller side)
– 1/3 cup melted coconut oil (could also use avocado oil)
– 1/3 cup raw coconut or cane sugar
– 1/4 cup raw liquid honey (could also use maple syrup)
– 2 large pasture raised eggs
Additional:
– 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
– 3 Tbsp. hemp hearts
Instructions
– Preheat oven to 330°F convection (or 350°F regular bake)
– Place the oats into a blender and blend until you reach a fine flour like consistency
– Add oats to a large bowl followed by all other dry ingredients
– Place all wet ingredients into a blender and blend on low until everything is mixed together (do not over blend)
– Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients bowl and mix until just combined
– Fold in the chocolate chips
– Prepare a 9×5 loaf pan by coating in a thin layer of coconut oil and then dusting with flour
– Place batter in a 9×5 loaf pan so it is 3/4 full (I usually have batter left over to make 4 muffins as well)
– Top loaf and muffins with hemp hearts
– Bake the loaf for 45-50 minutes (time depends on the heat of your oven). If you are also baking muffins, they should only take 18 or so minutes
– You will know the loaf is ready when you place a butter knife in it and it comes out somewhat clean (can be deceiving because the chocolate chips are melty). You can also lightly pat the top of the loaf and see if it springs back to you!
