Hi Friends! It is with much excitement that I write this blog post to share that I’m going to be trying out CBD oil for the first time ever!
I’ve always been super curious about trying CBD, especially after hearing about its amazing potential health benefits, however I’ve never actually tried it before! So over these next 90 days, I’m committing to taking it everyday, and documenting how I feel with monthly blog posts, in order to give you the complete run down on my experience.
I’m going to be doing this 90 trial in partnership with Eaton Hemp CBD Oil. Eaton seems to be one of the best CBD companies I’ve come across, as you’ll read about more below – and this is certainly saying something because there are A LOT of CBD companies out there!

What Is CBD?
Okay so maybe you’ve noticed that CBD oil seems to be all the rage in the health world these days? But perhaps you don’t know exactly what it is? At least I know I didn’t until I researched it more!
In summary, CBD is short form for “Cannabidiol” and is a chemical compound from the Cannabis sativa plant. There are both hemp and marijuana species of the plant and it is the hemp species of the plant that is typically much higher in CBD (1).
In case you were wondering – CBD is not psychoactive, unlike its close relative, THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. This means, taking CBD will not get you high!
What Are the Potential Health Benefits?
The list of potential health benefits touted by CBD are vast and varying; from pain relief, to helping to reduce inflammation, and so much more (2)!
However amongst all these, I’m most interested in taking CBD for it’s potential anxiety reducing properties! As some of you know, I’ve had a long journey struggling with anxiety. Although I now know how to manage anxiety with my diet and other techniques I’ve learned – if I’m not careful, it can sneak back in!
As a nutritionist, I most commonly work with individuals who struggle with anxiety and are looking for holistic ways to reducing it on top of diet modifications and therapy. For this reason, I’m excited to experience first hand what Eaton Hemp CBD oil does for my anxiety in order to be able to recommend it to my clients!
There are increasing bodies of research on both animal and human studies to suggest that CBD can have an incredibly positive impact on those struggling with anxiety. For starters, one study found that chronically stressed rats who received daily injections of CBD were found to have much fewer panic related symptoms (4).
Another study done in 2018 published by Pub Med, indicated that a 300mg dose of CBD prior to public speaking was found to significantly reduce anxiety during the speeches of those who took this dosage (3).
There are also extensive human and animal studies suggesting that CBD can offer numerous therapeutic benefits for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, as outlined in a 2018 literature review entitled, “Cannabidiol as a Therapeutic Alternative for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder: From Bench Research to Confirmation in Human Trials” (6).
One of the studies referenced in this lit review, was a 2013 study which found CBD significantly increased the extinction of aversive memories (aka it decreased fearful memories) in healthy humans (7). It has also been found that CBD has much fewer side effects than the pharmacological therapy currently used to treat PTSD patients (6).
In another example, a case study found significant results when CBD oil was used after unsuccessful attempts with pharmaceutical medication, on a young patient who had suffered severe physical abuse. The CBD oil was found to help decrease anxiety in the patient and improve the quality and quantity of their sleep (8).
As you can see from these few studies I’ve referenced here (out of the many that have been done), CBD oil has been found over and over again to be incredibly effective at helping to reduce anxiety. This is why I am incredibly excited to give it a try so anyone else who is struggling with anxiety or other health conditions can hopefully benefit from what I share about my experience as well!
Why Eaton Hemp Organic CBD Oil?

I decided to partner with Eaton Hemp CBD Oil on this trial, firstly because they are a certified USDA Organic Full-Spectrum CBD Oil – if you know me, you’ll understand that this is not out of the ordinary because organic is always a given for me! However, I should mention, that when looking to buy any hemp product, it’s super important to know that hemp is a phytoremediator. This means it sucks up everything in the soil- good or bad. So if the hemp products you are buying were grown in non-organic, untested soils, the plant could be absorbing very harmful substances such as pesticides, metals, or toxins. Secondly, I wanted to try Eaton Hemp CBD Oil because Eaton seems like a super cool company who whole heartedly stands by everything they offer – from the way they farm to the way they deliver their products.
Their core values state: reverence to mother nature, stewardship to the consumer, and full transparency – which is evident in the way they share about their farming practices and how they openly display their CBD lab results on their website (many companies of which do not).
You can check out their website here – be sure to watch their video to learn more about their farming practices. They carry both USDA Organic Full-Spectrum CBD Oil, hemp hearts (which happen to be my fave topper on pretty much any meal or baked good), and hemp seeds in all sorts of delicious flavours (which make for a delicious nutrient dense snack).
Final Words
Alright so, that’s all from me for now! I’m stoked to see what I experience throughout my 90 day trial with Eaton Hemp CBD Oil! I will be sure to share all cool things I learn and discover as I provide a full Eaton Hemp CBD Oil Review at the end of the 3 months.
Oh and one final note! If anyone is curious and wants to join in along with me in trying out CBD, you can use the code MEG20 for 20% off your order from Eaton! Just for reference, I’m going to be taking Eaton’s USDA Organic Full-Spectrum CBD Oil.
Much love & peace,
Meg xo
